Fashion dilemma of the week

I’M GOING ABROAD AND ALL I’M ALLOWED TO BRING IS HAND LUGGAGE

May-Britt used it when she went to Capri and our lifestyle editor took it with her when she spent the weekend in Nice: the trolley. One trolley. Heading abroad with just hand luggage, we’re miraculously pulled it off. And you are going to pull it off too. I’m here to give you a couple of tips that are going to help you save that extra bit of cash that you would usually be paying for extra baggage weight.

A lot of airlines used to always require checking in all your luggage, but this is no longer the case. More often than not, especially for short flights, tickets are sold that don’t include baggage space and so you have to pay extra to check your things in. Absurd but honest is honest: we’ve all dealt with bringing suitcases stuffed with clothing and then end up not even wearing half of the things that are in there.

A small suitcase means limited space for things to bring with you. It requires putting in some extra thought for what you really want and need. First of all, it’s always great to go for light materials like silk. Grab your favorite clothing items and find ways you can combine them. You can wear shorts and skirts more than just once. Same goes for shoes and accessories. The important thing is: don’t bring too much of one thing. Two pairs of black shoes is not necessary. Last but not least: wear layers while you fly. Might be considered cheating, but it’s the easiest way to bring more clothing with you!

Double printed jeans, €289,99 Bluelab Espadrilles, €495,- Chloé via Net-a-porter Peplum top, €25,95 Zara Aviator sunglasses, €19,99 Mango Bowling bag, p.o.a. Chanel

Bluelab jeans are a perfect solution. When you get sick of the black, all you have to do is switch it inside out and go for the leopard print. I’m telling you: two birds with one stone.

If you opt for a suit, you’ll immediately have three different outfits for you to wear. Either you can wear the suit together, or your can style the separate pieces in other ways. Scarfs are also always a great accessory. Wear it in your hair to the beach during the day, or around your neck for dinner in the evening.
