It’s your first official date with him. After a quick happy dance and calling all of your friends to let them know, panic kicks in. Holy moly, what the hell do you wear? As much as you love furry loafers, your new culottes or your favorite oversized blouse, odds are, these are trends he doesn’t really understand. If you’ve got your Gucci loafers on, he’s probably wondering why you’re still in your slippers and with culottes, he’s convinced you bought your pants too small.

Anyways, men and trends, for some it’s still a struggle and hard to explain. It doesn’t mean you have to change your style for him though, but these are the things that pop up on your first date. I’ve got tips for you though so don’t worry. Save those favorite items of yours for a later date.

Keep calm

Panic won’t get you anywhere; a date should be fun and the guy you’re with too. Still a little clueless as to what to wear? Use Pinterest or Instagram as a guide. Collect looks you think would be very suitable for your date and then dive into your closet. Still got nothing to wear? Call your friends. You won’t find a better excuse to go shopping than this. Bye bye stress!

Who, what, where?

Well, the who part is pretty clear: your date. The what and wear are the key factors here. Go for an outfit that suits the location you’re going to. A little black dress doesn’t seem like it would be the ideal fit for a date at the zoo. Same goes for a pair of ripped jeans at a chic restaurant.

Hey sexy!

Go for something feminine but not too sexy. Accentuate your best assets and camouflage your weak ones. But never overdo it. Go for something like a cool cut out detail or a low back. But never two-in-one. Might be too much of a good thing on a first date.

Heels

Heels are always a good idea according to research that has been conducted to see what men find attractive. So go for heels you can properly walk in. Incase your date isn’t too tall or the same height as you, best you leave those heels at home. Same if you’re spending the day at a zoo.

Number one rule

The most important thing during a first date is that you get to know each other. That means stay true to yourself, even when it comes to clothing. As cliché as it sounds: always go for something you feel comfortable in.
