Happy & Healthy

dinner dates and nights out

When you’ve adapted a healthy lifestyle

It’s Tuesday, so you’ve still got a couple days of work ahead but before you know it, it’ll be Friday and Friday means; dinners, birthdays and Easter parties are on the menu. For some of you, this might bring out some anxiety. Why? Well, because you’re still a bit unsure how to go about with these activities when you’ve adapted a healthy lifestyle. So if you think the two don’t go hand in hand, think again. Of course they work. Why shouldn’t you be able to go out for dinner or cheer on the end of the work week with an alcoholic beverage? Just stick to certain boundaries and you’ll be fine. Here are some pointers on how you’re going to enjoy going out for dinner because maintaining that healthy lifestyle is all in your own hands.

  • Order whatever you are in the mood for. The key here is to just make sure you eat it slowwwly.
  • Go easy on the appetizers. You don’t want to be full before your meal arrives.
  • Remember: bread baskets don’t really add any extra value to your meal. At least, that’s what I think.
  • Order two starters instead of a starter and a main course. This will give you smaller portions.
  • Ask if you can have extra veggies.
  • Drink lots of water.
  • Ask to get your sauce or your dressing on the side. This way you can decide your own dosage.
  • Share your desserts, there is bound to be someone who is up for one.
  • Keep your composure. Keep in mind: five glasses of wine or less and the night would have been just as fun. But hey, who am I?
