HAUTE BEAUTY
These were the prettiest looks from Paris
Never a dull moment in Paris. Especially not during couture week which took place this past week. Inspiration overload and we love it. Not only was the clothing phenomenal, but the beauty looks were also on point and exceptional. Tom Pecheux pulled out all the stops at Chanel and Dior made us of the master in eyes, Peter Philips. Here are the looks that were the most striking.
Dior
Peter Philips went all out with eyeliner this season. Forty models walked the runway with a carefully placed line above their eyes, but not all identical. They were all in a graphic style, with gold color blocking, dramatic black lines with a hint of punk. But hey, it’s all still couture, so all of it still very chic. The skin was smooth and flawless so that the eyes obtained all the attention. Hence the reason the lips were kept light too. It was all very natural with a hint of soft pinks. Artist Guido Palau had been asked to take care of the hair. Not a crazy request because he’s got magical hands when it comes to hair. He had it all tucked back with the parting straight down the middle, topped off with an ornament to keep in line with couture week.
Claes Iversen
Baby hairs happen to be the best hair accessory of the past year. It kind of reminds us of R&B girls like Rita Ora and Nicki Minaj. Plus it has a bit of that twenties vibe. We spotted it at Prada, Vera Wang and Givenchy last year, but Claes upped the ante this time round. It was all curled and tightly secured to the models’ heads. The perfect hair accessory through use of the girls’ own hair. How ideal. The rest of the look was kept very natural with perfectly brushed brows and some highlighter on the cheeks: next level flawless.
Edwin Oudshoorn
Stylish as always, but with a touch of ‘now’. Think pink hair, think volume and think coral colored lips. When you read it it might sound intense, but add one of Edwin’s beautiful gowns and it’s the perfect fit. The eye makeup was bold, but not over the top – because the lip color was plenty – and the skin was kept matte. It was the hair that really stole the show (after the clothing of course).
Iris van Herpen
All looks from Iris van Herpen had a touch of fairytale, just like her creations. The skin was kept porcelain like but a touch of pink was added to add romance. The eyebrows were lightly brushed trying to minimize their look, there was no mascara and the eyelids were a light shade of pink.
Chanel
Tom Pecheux had the lead at the Chanel show this couture week. We’re used to seeing very cool looks come from Chanel, and once again, they impressed. The smudgy eyeliner with endlessly long lashes and rosy cheeks was the look they went for. The hair had a doll-like vibe which created the perfect contrast with the makeup so all in all it was a perfect balance.
