Happy & Healthy
“Jet, I’m having friends over, what kind of snacks should I get? I want to get something healthy, but I invited guys over too, so they’ll want more than just carrots and hummus. Can you help me out?” I get this question all the time and of course I can help. Here you go:
Instead of cheese sticks
Carrots with hummus can be boring, I get it. But not if you fill up an entire plate with colored curdité (raw vegetables). Serve it with hummus or tapenade as dips, and it won’t only look festive, it’ll taste great too.
Instead of fried spring rolls
Might require a little more work, but I’m a huge fan of summer rolls: spring rolls made out of rice paper. Check this out for a great recipe. Believe me, everyone is going to love this.
Instead of a bowl of cocktail nuts
I hate them. Well I did, I no longer do.
What you need:
1 can of chickpeas
1 teaspoon of paprika powder
sea salt
olive oil
Heat up your oven to 180 degrees. Wash your chickpeas and let them dry in sieve. Sprinkle them with olive oil, then paprika powder and salt. Spread them out on a baking tray covered in baking paper and leave them in the oven for 35 minutes until they’re nice and crispy. Make sure you let them cool off first. When they’re still warm, they’re not crispy enough.
Instead of chips
Popcorn, easy right?
Instead of bonbons
Go for dates with cream cheese and walnuts. Make sure you go and buy the fresh big dates. Remove the pit, smear in some cream cheese and top it off with a walnut. Enjoy!
