how to beat the 4 PM slump
Here’s something we all have in common: the 4 o’clock slump at the office. Some have it harder than others, but the fact is, around 4 in the afternoon, procrastination has a way of hitting you hard. And that’s exactly when it’s time to have a #mybreak. And I’m going to tell you just how to do it:
1. Do the 7 minute workout 2.0. Our girl Simone just taught me the ultimate way to train your legs at the office. Here it goes: crouch down by a wall and keep this position fixed for a couple of minutes. Or walk around like this. We like to refuse to it as the frog walk.
2. Head on over to YouTube and watch video’s of babies having a laughing fit. Seriously, you won’t be able to contain your laugh. And you’ll be wakey wakey before you know it.
3. A lot of people underestimate the power of oxygen in their body. Feeling light headed? Then it could be because you need a little more oxygen flowing through you brain and the rest of your body. Take a moment to literally ’take a breather’. Breathe in and out properly a couple of times to make sure you’ve got plenty of oxygen running through your blood veins. Or even better, head outside for a quick second for some fresh outdoor air.
You’ll be feeling fresh and radiant right after.
4. Have a break, have a KitKat®. Always does the trick for me. Or grab something else to snack on that’ll make you active. The fruit sugars that you find in apples are a great option too.
5. Start your day with a good breakfast. Nothing is better than kickstarting your day full of energy, carbohydrates and proteins. It’ll help avoid the afternoon slump too.
6. Keep a rosemary or mint plant at the office. The scent of these two will do your energy levels good.
7. Touch up your makeup. I swear this works. You’ll be feeling fresh and radiant right after.
8. Still in a slump? Crank up some pump-up music and do a little dance. Good luck!
