HOW TO opt for a book RATHER THAN LOOK AT YOUR PHONE

“So Jet, what’s that book your reading all about?” my mom asked me the other day after I was reading yet another magazine – obviously hoping I would start reading a proper book. Which I do sometimes, but only when I’m off on a vacation. That’s when I have the time to do it. And every time I come back I promise myself I’m going to do it more often, because reading a book in bed is the best thing to help you fall asleep. It’s better than staring at your phone. Hmm, coming from someone who is pretty much married to her phone. Even in bed. But still, there are tricks to get you to grab a book rather than your phone and here they are:

–      Start a book club. Get you and your friends to all read the same book and then set an appointment to come together when you’ve all read it. How embarrassing would it be if you don’t know the ending.

–      Bring a book to the gym. When you’re working out on one of those stationary bicycles, it’s easy to pull out a book instead of staring at the TV screen.

–      Always carry a book around in your bag. You always find time to pull it out and read a couple of pages. In the train, on the couch, in a restaurant or café when you are waiting for something.

–      Carrying a book around too heavy for you? Purchase an e-reader. Even cooler.

–      Take your book with you to the bathroom. Not your phone.

–      Get into bed without your phone. Leave it in your living room. Bring you book and believe me; after two pages you’ll be fast asleep.

–      Okay, this might be cheating, but you can consider audio books.
