how to tackle a winter slump

It’s in the air. Winter is coming and I’m embracing it with open arms. Well, the cheese fondues, hanging out by the fire place (which I don’t have but still), red wine, candles and Christmas tree. The thing I’m not really looking forward to is the winter slump. Tired, cold, cranky, I don’t really know what it is. This time I’m going to try to tackle it. Are you in?

–       Plan fun things you can look forward to. Going to the sauna with friends, a weekend trip to a different city, ski trips, dinners, just to name a couple of things.

–       People tend to be happier in the summer than in the winter. The reasoning being: the sun. The sun is filled with vitamin D, and since there’s a lack of it in the darker winter months: we end up in a slump. Time to stock up on some extra vitamin D out of a bottle. It works.

And new clothes makes everyone happy, right??

–       Treat yourself to pretty winter items for in your wardrobe. A good reason to go shopping when it’s cold out. And new clothes makes everyone happy, right?

–       Don’t lock yourself up inside. Daylight gives you energy. Get suited up in something warm and go outside.

–       Get plenty of sleep. Try to get at least seven hours a night.

–       Be kind to yourself. As in: make your home cosy, light some candles, fill your fridge, make chai tea latte with almond milk, buy flowers, invite friends over for dinner, wear your favorite clothes and crank up the music.
