IS IT FINALLY TIME TO DITCH HEELS FOR SNEAKERS?
Amayzine has always been divided into two teams: team heels (May-Britt and myself) and team sneakers. Besides the fact that it takes May-Britt and I a couple of extra seconds to strut to the bathroom, I’ve never once considered to switch teams. I love heels. Put on a pair and your sight of life changes (figuratively and literally). I never want to live without them.
Until the doorbell rang.
I ripped open the package. Chuck Taylor Converse shoes. And this was when the doubt started to kick in. Is this when I finally cheat? If I have to do it, why not with a pair of All Stars. My Insta feed is being bombarded with sneakers lately. Special editions with fringes are being worn to festivals, short versions in light colors are being paired with denim shorts on holidays… It’s almost not acceptable not to own a pair.
‘It’s safe to conclude that wearing sneakers really does have an advantage’
So I put them on. Still somewhat in doubt, I stood up. The world is flat. I still catch myself standing on my toes. It looks awful. My hips suddenly look bigger… BUT they are comfortable. Better yet: walking around in them is divine. I can take on the world. And that’s why I’m going to say something I’ve never said before, but after a bit of field research it’s safe to conclude that wearing sneakers really does have an advantage:
1. I can spend more time shopping. Okay, done, I’m sold.
2. My walk to the office is suddenly a whole lot more pleasant.
3. Incase someone is ever chasing me down the street, it’s a lot easier to start sprinting. Definitely not an easy thing to do if you’re on team heels.
4. I recently ruined my brand new Dolce heels when they got caught on the sidewalk. It was awful. Read about it here.
5. Our shopping editor just told me that All Stars are extremely cute and so easy to style.
Alright, I’m making an exception for these babies. They get to stay. At least for shopping sessions and festivals. To all my heel babies, don’t become sour. I’ll make it up to you. I promise.
