FACTS AND FABELS ABOUT POPCORN

The following question is one which I have received quite often: is popcorn healthy? Now I have to say I am a huge advocate of moderate eating, whether it be a chocolate bar or a bowl of quinoa salad, so the same goes for popcorn. But to get back to the initial question: popcorn is a great snack.

But here are just a few facts, fables and tips so you’ll never question whether it’s good or bad for you again.

  • Pop your own popcorn instead of eating it pre-popped straight out of a bag. They always consist of added products which aren’t necessarily healthy.
  • Opt for salty rather than sweet.
  • It’s true the popcorn hardly contains any calories so you won’t feel stuffed, but you will end up eating a lot…
  • Popcorn even contains antioxidants. These antioxidants are anti-inflammatory which help ensure that your cholesterol does not nestle in your blood vessels.
  • Popcorn contains a lot of fiber which is good for your intestines!
