And lots and lots of ice cream

A day without pleasure is a day lost. Could have come from me but this is from our friends at Magnum. And to practice what they preach, they flew me in to Cannes for a shot of pleasure. Cannes alone wouldn’t be pleasurable enough. They wanted to add more. Kendall Jenner for example, the face of their new campaign.

And Mert and Marcus. The photography duo du moment. When they call, every top model will stop what they’re doing immediately to work with them. And there was ice cream too of course. Because the key word is customizing; there was a dip-bar with hundreds of different options. Salted caramel, crispy chocolate, lavender or should I opt for the lemon meringue instead?

In the afternoon there was a press conference with Kendall, Mert and Marcus in which they gave everyone more insight into the campaign. Kendall looked divine in her creamy white suit and beachy hair. Momager Kris is seated front row. Completely dolled up with a head full of makeup (I think the word dull makes her nauseous) taking photos of her little girl.

‘Release the Beast’ is the theme of the campaign and the message they want to convey is that you need to do at least one good thing for yourself every day. Like eating a Magnum ice cream. Magnum’s marketing director Madelon does this once a day. At least. You know,  with her coffee around 11 in the morning. And now I know that you’re probably envisioning a fat woman now, but Madelon has the body of a top model. “It’s all about making the right choices”, is her tip. “A muffin contains more calories than a Magnum.”

Because we want to take their pleasure slogan seriously, we head on over to the pool. Okay, I did a bit of work at first and a glass of rosé magically appeared. And the glass stayed full as we headed to the Magnum location for a night of dancing. We’re here, the ice cream is here (including the new Magnum Doubles that allow you to add layers to your ice cream), the bottles of bubbly are here and yes, Kendall and Kris have arrived.

The party was great. Usually people head home after a couple of sips of their drinks, but the music being played was great, there are drinks galore (although I skipped the round of butter cocktails) and the crowd is diverse.

I ended up diving into my bed at around 01:00. I might have woken up without a voice this morning, but no one will ever be able to say that my day yesterday was a day lost.
