Meeting the Queen of the beauty industry

HAD TO GIVE UP HER SPOT…

She’s known for the huge cat eyes she creates, she has her own beauty line and she has dolled up a lot of gorgeous and well known faces. Charlotte Tilbury has been a makeup artist for over 20 years and she has worked with photographers such as Mario Testino and Terry Richardson and designers such as Tom Ford, Stella McCartney and Christopher Bailey. Oh, and some of those well known faces she’s dolled up include Kate Moss, Jennifer Lopez, Penelope Cruz and Rihanna. The only downside for everyone living outside of the States, is that if you wanted to get your hands on some of Charlotte’s coveting makeup, you had to travel to the US.

As of now, those days are over so you can imagine the excitement that kicked in as soon as we heard that her makeup line was making it’s way over to Europe. And to celebrate her work crossing the pond, Charlotte herself traveled over to this side of the world, so when she was in our home base Amsterdam, we had to meet her. Just one minor detail… I wasn’t able to meet her myself due to other appointments so I sent one of our interns, who obviously didn’t even hesitate when I brought up the offer.

Oh, and some of those well known faces she’s dolled up include Kate Moss, Jennifer Lopez, Penelope Cruz and Rihanna..

Although, I did give her one assignment to fulfill. I wanted to know Charlotte’s tips and tricks when applying makeup. Her products will be in stores soon, so it only seems appropriate that her golden advice were to come along with it. And we’ve got them so all that’s left for you to do is get your hands on some of Charlotte’s magic and you’re good to go.

What is your most prized product you would never leave your house without?

“I don’t leave the house without eye cream and concealer. They give me a fresh look and hide my tiredness, so they are absolute necessities. “

Is there a beauty error that women can make?

“Yes, there is. A lot of women don’t use enough makeup. Don’t shy away from using a lot of product. My products have been boxed together for each separate look, so every woman will know exactly what she needs. I get that it can be difficult, the more options the more decisions, but just be careful. Experimenting with the look is what makes it fun.”

What is your favorite product?

“The products from my skin care line. They’re so nice and soft. You need a great base if you want your makeup to look great. Good skin makes it easier to create beautiful looks. So keep smearing, ladies.”
