MOMENTS I FEEL VERY MATURE

They’re pretty rare. But, they do exist. And in those moments it feels like being a grown up is very easy and doable for everyone.

When I make my bed

When I buy myself flowers

For some reason, having flowers at home makes me feel like I’ve got everything under control.

When I sign off a check

When I can remember a number by heart

I know my passport number by heart and I’m seriously proud of this. “I’ve been alive for so long now, I know that number like the back of my hand.”That’s how it feels. But when it comes to phone numbers, I hardly know any except from my dad’s and my own. I’ve had to write down my credit card number a lot when I was traveling, so I knew that by heart as well. SO cool. But hardly three hours after I hit back on Dutch soil, I got a phone call from the bank. I’d apparently gotten skimmed, so there was a new credit card on the way. And so, a new number. Damn it.

When you have a landline

A couple of years ago, I got my very first landline. I don’t think I’ve ever felt more grown up than in that very moment. “My phone number? Do you want my cell or my the landline?” That was awesome. I hardly ever used the landline (it’s pretty outdated to begin with), so I cancelled my subscription. I did keep the phones though and they still make me feel like a total adult.
