NAOMI DONNE’s makeup tricks

That are going to make your life even prettier

Two weeks ago I met Naomi Donne from M.A.C Cosmetics. Yes, she’s the women behind movies such as Spectre, Chocolate, Zoolander and Cinderella. She brings the fantasy world to life and creates the coolest looks for the stunning faces of all the actors and actresses. And when you’ve got that on your resume, you can bet she knows exactly how to make the very best version of yourself.

Body looks

“Perhaps it’s better to mention the things people don’t do right in their daily lives. Most people only focus on their face and forget the rest of their bodies – and the rest of your body definitely deserves a bit of paint too. Bare arms or some skin peeping out from underneath your skirt? Shame. This is going to give you different shades of color and it’s much nicer if you’re entire body – the skin that’s showing – all has the same tone of color.”

The base

“I sometimes find base of a lot of makeup looks to be too bold. They can be so extreme that they make people look older than they actually are. Keep it light and fresh, it’s much more chic. Use highlighters! If you want your eyes to stand out then place some emphasis on and around your eyebrows. When you work with shadows you can emphasize all the areas of your face you want to stand out.”

Powdering

“Using powders is extremely important. It makes sure your makeup stays put and won’t shine. When I head out the door without makeup, I still make sure I used a bit of powder. All you need is a small bit to do the trick.”

First the base, then the rest

“A lot of makeup artists start off with the eyes and work their way from there. I do it the other way around. I do the base first, then the rest of the face. This helps me pick the colors that are going to work best with your skin tone resulting in a stronger makeup look.”

Never leave the house without…

“This might just be the most important feature of your face and so I never leave the door without some color on my lips. To obtain a good lip-look, you need to make sure your cheeks have some color as well as your eyelids. Red lipstick is my all time favorite.”
