How to wear it like an athlete

When I spend my evenings watching the Olympics, then I evidently spend a lot of time looking at all the looks of the athletes. I mean, when I think of the Dutch athlete Anna van der Breggen who recently received her gold medal, sexy isn’t necessarily the word that fits. Helmet on, cycling gear that’s so tight it looks like her entire body is being squished. Some female athletes go for decorative nails and others for cool braids and ponytails and ingenious buns.

The bun

Buns seem like the easiest option, but it doesn’t have to be boring. You can give your bun a twist by combining it with a braid. Check this out for an idea. And the positioning of the braid is also important. A high tightly fitted bun is perfect for a gymnast, but for other athletes it’s easier to place them a little lower. Moral of the story is, a bun is always a good idea but depending on what sport you’re playing, you’ll either place it high or low.

Braid

I call this one the Anna-braid. It pops out underneath helmets on bikes. By tightly fastening it, it’ll stay put, and it has that extra added bit of allure than a regular ponytail.

Hair accessories

I think this is an essential when it comes to working out: hairbands and clips. Think of all the gymnasts who’ve got scrunchies in and a ton of hair clips in bright colors. All to keep the hair out of their face.

Ponytail with braid

This one is on a bit of a Lara Croft level, but not in a bad way. Lara is sexy and cool, so it’s time to start making use of this new look. Create a high ponytail, fasten it with a hair tie, and then braid the hair in it and fasten it with another hair tie. Great for a powerful and very fixated look.

Two buns

You might think Spice Girls, but I’m saying very street style worthy. It’s not only handy while competing, it works just as well outdoors when you’re hanging out on a terrace. This looks got so much allure, it’s meant to be seen.

The high ponytail

Here’s a look you’ll see on the hockey field. Very high ponytails that sway as the girls sprint around. Not only easy, but very good looking too.
