Our girl Bo switched coasts for the week. Check out what she’s been up to in Cali here!

With adrenaline pumping through my body I sat down by a table and on a chair that weren’t mine. I didn’t want anyone to notice me so I turned my phone on silent, turned off the lights and out of pure excitement I was playing with the keys I was holding onto – that weren’t mine either. I found them under my best friends’ door mat in San Francisco. After a six hour flight, I was sitting in her home, waiting to surprise her. Everything was looking a little creepy with the lights off but before I could go and turn them on, I heard keys in the front door. And that’s when I yelled: “surprise!” She practically fell out of her doorway so I jumped after her. Her neighbors appeared to see what the fuss was all about and she finally realizes I’m here. And from that moment it was a chaotic mixture of crying, laughing, crying, and hysterically jumping around. This might just be the coolest thing I have ever done. All in honor of her birthday. We popped open a bottle of wine and were ready to kickstart the best week of 2016.

This is my third time visiting San Fran and every time I’m here it feels like a gift. Oh, and check out the view during my flight. Ma-gi-cal! And yes, this is a photo I took from my airplane seat.

It’s been almost two and a half years since I have driven a car. Now I have to admit, I’ve never been the best driver but after sitting in the passengers seat for more than two years, I think it’s time to switch it up a bit. With a sweaty back and clammy hands I take the wheel. I didn’t want to, but I had to. Forced if you may, by my bestie MJ. And so our road trip began. Destination: Napa. The Robert Mondavi Winery to be exact. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, you don’t want to miss it.

‘Wine has in it a touch of magic’ thus, Robert Mondavi.

After the Winery we drove to Yountville. A super cozy and luckily currently tourist free area before tourist season kicks in. For food you have to drop by Bouchon. Fries and oysters. And wine of course. Plus an extra cup of coffee for dessert.

My main present was obviously my surprise visit. And to capture the party (besides the 399 million iPhone photos), I gave her a baby blue polaroid camera. And not only MJ was a fan of the thing.

Okay, now I’m starting to sound like I struggle from a problematic consumption of alcohol. I don’t though, I promise. I’m on a vacation, so Mimosa’s are a part of brunch, right?

A day in SF means coffee at Le Marais. We wandered (and shopped) around Chestnut and Fulton Street. Walked past The Jane and all of those other places I’ve written about numerous times for Amayzine. It’s still a favorite on my list though, so hereby I’ll just mention it again.

Back to roadtrippin’. During out car karaoke performance, MJ hit the gas peddle while my coffee was still on the dashboard. The result: a cappuccino rampage. All over the car, and all we can do is laugh. MJ’s hubby wasn’t too pleased though when he spotted milk all over his car seats, but we still couldn’t contain our laughter. Oops.

The Big Sur, also known as ‘God’s country by the average Cali native.  They have given it this name because the area has remained almost untouched. Earth as it should be. We walked passed the coast, climbed the mountains. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful.

It almost looks as though I’m sitting in front of a ‘green screen’ doesn’t it?

After a few days I’m back at the same airport I arrive at. Although this time I’m headed in where I came out. I wave my friend MJ goodbye after what might have been the best weekend ever. Probably because it was so unexpected. Or because everything was so right. Or just because her and I always have the best times together. That’s what you get with certain friends. It’s just right. Always.

Back and fully charged in the city. Being reunited with my man is always wonderful, as is snuggling with my bundle of fur.
