The designer belt

The things you surround yourself with, are the things that infect you.  Now I’m not saying you’ll find me walking around in sneakers like our lifestyle editor, but we do always have our ‘monthly visitor’ at the same time, the same left shoulder pain (neither of us know where it comes from) and now we both suddenly have a fashion item we need to insert into our online shopping carts. The belt. Because a belt is evidently the current ultimate fashion item. Take a good bag, a belt and alright, alight, a good pair of shoes too, and you’re look is set.

Now I know what you’re thinking: buying a proper belt might cost you about two hundred euros. What I’m saying is: do it. Here’s the proof that you need.

1. It upgrades everything

Old jeans, a simple white shirt… Imagine a Gucci belt around the waist. Sold, no?

2. It transforms every outfit

Think about what it does to your outfit when you wear it on top of a fitted coat. Or that long blouse you own. It’ll suddenly give your item of clothing a different silhouette once you add a belt. Or that little black dress you’ve owned for an eternity with a thick Alexander McQueen belt. Okay, even if it’ll cost you 749 euros, sorry…

3. You’ve got the designer experience

I’ve previously written about why it’s so nice to purchase a designer piece. But without having to rewrite the entire story, it’s all about the  detailing of the item. This morning when I was putting on my Gucci sandals, I realized that even the buckle has GUCCI engraved into it. See, that’s the kind of detailing I love. And it comes with a pretty box and wrapped in crackling paper in a bag from the designer. All things considered, what’s a couple of hundred euros anyways for such an experience.

4. You exude that you love fashion

And that you’re willing to invest in pretty things. Which means you get the million dollar treatment as soon as you set foot into other clothing stores.
