PS WHAT? YES, PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE SEASON
It’s finally there: PSL Season
PS what? Yes, Pumpkin Spice Latte Season.
Last Sunday when I was hanging out on my balcony staring at my bowl filled with a multitude of shades of green, I was overwhelmed with the sudden feeling of homesickness. I stared down at the colored leaves on the sidewalk, sunlight beaming on my face.
Homesick.
Fall has kicked in and I love this this time of year. Indian Summers happens to be one of the nicest seasons in Virginia, where I spent so much of my time back in the day with Mr. X. I enjoyed the long strolls through the woods (picnic baskets included) and the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains, but also the sweet scent of pumpkin and cinnamon in the massive malls in the US. And yes, Starbucks too (never thought I’d actually say it, because I find their coffee to be atrocious).
Each year it was a sport of mine to be the first to order the PSL at Starbucks (a match between my cousin and I trying to beat the other with the first order). But those PSL’s are Sweet (with a big fat capital S). And instead of the regular four pumps of sweetener, I would order just one, whipped cream excluded and with soya milk. So roughly only 150 calories instead of the usual 400 (also known as an entire meal, yikes).
Pumpkin Spice Soy Latte, extra hot but with just one shot, no whipped cream. Ha! Looks like I’m just taking part in the rage of ‘How long can you make your Starbucks order?’
It took a while but thank god Amsterdam jumped onto the PSL bandwagon and it’s helping my homesickness decrease a little. No Blue Ridge Mountains but pretty canals instead… And Starbucks.
