rosy cheeks

A healthy glow in five steps

A while back I completely rediscovered blush. When I was younger I used to head out the door with extremely rosy cheeks (with a matching bob and puppy eyes), but I’m going to leave that to my past extremely stylish teenage days (thin eyebrows and silver eyeshadow).  But I’ve rediscovered my blushy cheeks days. Because when done right, blush is your best friend. And it’s easier to use than you think!

1. Dosage

Want an intense, but also a natural effect? Sounds dubious, but think of porcelain doll cheeks: pink. Done naturally, but still present. It’s possible. Mix your blush with some cream to give it extra moisture. The color will be more intense, but when you apply it onto your skin, it’ll blend better with your natural skin color. Oh, and you can always add some glitter if you want to add a bit of shine.

2. Rainbow

The color of your skin changes throughout the year, so it makes sense that you adapt your makeup to it. In the winter you most likely use a lighter foundation than you do in the summer. Same goes for blush. An idea would be to play around with two different colors. This makes the transition nicer and subtle and you won’t end up with two rosy apples on your cheeks.

3. A bit of shine please

Want to make your cheeks shine even more? Add some shimmer. Right along your cheekbones because it’ll make it look like you’re smiling all day. Perfect solution if you’ve got a case of the resting bitch face. Using a highlighter really isn’t as hard as you might think it is.

4. Mix & match

Opt for a blush that matches your lips, nails and your clothing. This doesn’t mean you have to go through life looking like a clown, but it does intensify the color. You’ll only end up looking like a clown if you use a variety of different colors.

5. Top it

I completely understand if you say you’ve never heard of a blush topper before. What it is? It’s blush in a bunch of different colors all in one. It helps you add more variety to your face. They also usually consist of some shimmer or a pinch of metallic which helps bring out the color even more. Sounds ingenious right? Bring it on gently and you’ll see the result.
