Happy & Healthy
sEVEN healthy must-haves for in your pantry
Goji berries and wheatgrass, move over. Time to run to your nearest grocery store because this list is going to help make your pantry very fall-proof.
1. Sardines
By now we all know how important it is to get those high-fat foods in. But since there are plenty of fish in the sea, which ones should we catch? As small as they might be, Sardines are full of vitamins and minerals that keep your heart healthy, your head on the right track and give you an immense energy boost.
2. Pumpkin puree
Unfortunately, I’m not talking about the overly sweet pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks (it’s almost back on the menu guys, my guilty pleasure). This orange goo is packed with fibers, is low in calories (yaass) and gives you a great egg white boost (read: weightless material which is an added bonus).
3. Peanuts
Cashews and almonds are the hip nuts. But the regular peanut deserves a bit more respect. Oh wait, I’m not talking about the bowl of fatty, salted peanuts you’ll get a bar. Old school peanuts, right out of their shell. You can’t get anymore hip than this.
4. Oysters
Not only super classy, but great for a healthy head of hair, strong nails and skin as soft as a baby’s bum.
5. Seaweed
The perfect pre-bedtime snack. Why? Seaweed contains amino acids that help you sleep like a baby. Sushi, anyone?
6. Blackberries
Blue berries. Come on, a little 2015 don’t you think? But this black berry contains so many antioxidants, no other fruit can compete. Feel the flu coming up? Forget about that freshly squeezed orange juice, take a handful of these bad boys for a vitamin boost.
7. Teff
This little grain proves that big things really do come in small packages. Teff is the new superfood. Not only because its high percentage in calcium and vitamin C, but also because it helps keep your blood sugar levels exactly where we want them. Low low low we go.
