tinder, the numbers

The average Tinder user spends 77 minutes a day on the app,” is something I recently read. Hold on a minute, seventy seven minutes? Seriously, HOW? That’s more than an hour a day. Call me crazy, but I think that’s an insane number. After a bit of research, I found out that this data dates back to 2014, but still. Tinder hasn’t lost it’s popularity yet, but the number probably has changed. 77 minutes of Tinder a day, you can almost call it a part-time job.

Tinder is not my cup of tea. I guess if I had to I’d opt for Happn, but I still think dating apps are rather stupid. When you open Tinder, you’ll hardly come across anyone good looking, the selection on Happn is a bit better, but still no class acts. Nevertheless, it’s a great way to kill time: if you turn off Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, then it’s fun to check people out on Tinder or Happn. But I still think 77 minutes is a ridiculous amount of time.

During my round of research, I came across a site that had published a bunch of statistics, including Tinder statistics. All the data has been thoroughly researched on accuracy, so we can say all of this is fairly accurate.

Hold tight, the results are shocking. And remember them because throwing around pretty digits and interesting statistics are great openers for your next Tinder match.

Last February Tinder had 50 million used worldwide.
But the app has been downloaded more than 100 million times.
There are 1.4 billion swipes every day.
Resulting in 26 million matches.
Striking: only 54% of the users are actually single.
Less striking: 79% of the users are millennia’s.

There is a peak between 18:00 and 20:00, and 21:00 is the best time to get a match.

Hey now, this is fun: women swipe right 14% of the time.
And men, you won’t believe it: 46% right swipes.

In total, every second there are 16.000 swipes (!)

Which means there are 300 matches per second.

Tinder is active in 196 countries.

Every user logs in an average of 11 times a day.
