cleaning out your beauty bag

This needs to go and this gets to stay in your stash

Don’t get me wrong, but the summer and the winter both require different beauty rituals. Your skin changes, the weather is different, you’ll be turning a shade darker. So the best thing for you to do is take everything out of your bag and make room for the new and do whatever needs to be done to obtain the best summer skin.

Switch your creams

In the winter, your skin requires a lot of moisture so you probably use thicker substances for your skin. In the summer, it’s still important to hydrate your skin this way, but go for a gelatin-like texture. They’re light and refreshing.

Get rid of your foundation

Your foundations can make room for something else. In the winter, you skin tone will be lighter than in the summer, so the foundation color, and it’s substance texture, won’t be the best fit for warmer temperatures. Either you can mix your foundation with a face serum or with a different color foundation to obtain the right tone, or switch it all together and get a BB-cream. BB-creams are light and they protect your skin from sunlight.

Nail polish

Whereas in the winter you were usually spotted with a deep red and brown colors on your nails, it’s time for something lighter. Pastel colors are currently very on trend for your nails; they’re light and refreshing. Added bonus: they’ll make your hands look more tanned too.

From blush to bronzer

Okay, this one is not entirely true. You can keep your blush, but only if you make sure to add bronzer too. Apply it onto the areas of your face the sun touches. It’ll make you look a tad bit more tanned than you already are.

Mascara move

You might already be using waterproof mascara in the winter (because rain means runny mascara means panda eyes), but incase you weren’t already using it, this is the perfect time to introduce it into your beauty bag. Honestly, pretty much everything you get should be waterproof because any bit of sunlight and heat are going to make everything come off your face in no time.

Fix it

A fixing spray will be your best friend. Perhaps you use it in the winter too, but this is another summer must. Because as previously stated, makeup will disappear off your face before you know it, or end up in places you don’t want it. A fixing spray is going to do exactly what the name implies: keep your mascara in one fixed place.
