THE BIGGEST ONE HIT WONDERS FROM THE NINETIES

What the heck happened to these guys?

Videoclips were a huge thing back in the nineties. I could spend hours hanging out in front of my TV looking at short videos from artists on MTV. The topic of one hit wonders recently came up at our HQ, and when we say one hit wonders, we really mean those who have really only ever booked any success with just one song. Take the guys from the freaking Macarena for example. One hit. HOW? Didn’t that song make everyone happy? Here are a couple of other people who, in my opinion, deserved a more successful career. Even if it was only with one album.

Ann Lee – 2 Times

The name probably doesn’t ring any bells, but I’m sure you know her hit ‘2 Times’. Her second song ‘Voices’ wasn’t successful after which it was bye bye for Ann Lee. I think she has her awful hair clips to blame. Ann, sorry.

Wes – Alane

Every man has a tic, right? When I’m drunk, this is my go to song. Awkward dance included. The feeling is stronger than I am. This is by far the best song ever made. There’s a reason it was a runner up of the best song in 1997. Dear Wes, for fucks sake, where are you? We miss you.

Emilia – Big big world

“I’m a big big girl, in a big big world, it’s not a big big thing, if you leeeeeeave me.” You know this one. And don’t say you don’t, because I know you do. Listen to it once and you’ll have it stuck in your head the rest of your day. This Swedish nightingale should have at least released a second single?

Scatman John – Scatman

This is really one of my favorite golden oldies. Fun fact: did you know that Scatman John was a stutterer and used his speech exercises in his music. ‘Ski-ba-bop-ba-dop-bop.’ Oh man, I would have loved it if this guy had released more music.

Hanson – MMMBop

These three brothers still release music but let’s be real, after this hit song, they kind of disappeared off our radars. What a shame.
