This is what’s causing it

There’s an amazing trend going on where lash lumps (think: eyelashes stuck together because of mascara) are very hot. But hey, not everyone is called Peter Phillips and know how to create the look to pull this off. And to be honest; not everyone (shame on you) is aware of the latest trends in the world of beauty. So if you want to play it safe, make sure to clean your lashes well and zigzag your mascara on. This tends to go wrong often and before you know it, you won’t have any lashes left.

A colleague that I know very well has fake lashes. I’ve been trying to talk her out of them for months now. Sure, you wake up with a pretty face every morning and it’s incredibly handy on holidays and saves you time in the morning. But your natural eyelashes only get thinner and even fall out because of them. And at some point, the fake lashes start to itch and then you pull some out and it can get infected. Nope, you don’t want that. Using mascara is just a lot easier.

Curl those lashes

Make sure to do this before you put on mascara. Once you’ve put on mascara, your lashes are hard and formed. If you try to adjust them now, obviously your lashes will break off. So start curling and you’ll enjoy them more.

Out of date mascara

You might think that old mascara won’t do you any harm, but in the mean time bacteria are nestling in and you’re giving them more time to build their empire. Just throw the mascara out. You don’t want those bacteria in your eyes, because it’ll only give you a lot of hassle and infections.

Makeup remover

An oil-based cleanser is best for your eyes. You wipe off mascara easily and it often also nourishes the lashes, which helps them grow and get stronger. Look at it as a conditioner for your hair. You can’t really go without that either.

Always use your own mascara. You never know how long the other person has had it and if she’s ever had an eye infection. It can be passed on through mascaras.
