ATTENTION ALL YOU TAPAS LOVERS: THESE ARE THE NICEST PLACES IN BARÇA

As you might have already read here and here, last weekend my boy and I jetted off to the coolest city in Spain. And as promised: I still owed you these. All the nicest restaurants, clubs and shopping areas all lined up:

Boca Grande

This adorable restaurant allows you to twirl around and show off some of your dance moves when you head to the bathroom. And yes, I get it: it sounds weird. But they’ve got disco-toilets.

Xaloc

For the real original Spanish tapas, this is the place to be. The restaurant is located in a little hidden area of Barri Gòtic, but the atmosphere and food at the place makes it worth finding.

CDLC

This actually stands for Carpe Diem Lounge Club and I believe the name says plenty. It’s located right at the beach and it kind of resembles a Buddha-Bar.

Ciudad Condal

Perfect place for lunch. Tip: go either right before or right after lunch time or else you’re going to be stuck in an extremely long line to find a place to sit.

Cachitos

A rather new restaurant with a tapas menu that’s going to make you giddy. Once you’ve finished your meal, head downstairs for a cocktail from their extensive cocktail menu.

Opium

This place is definitely a favorite of mine. It’s right by the beach, they’ve always got great music playing and a tranquil atmosphere. Make sure you look chic when you head in, there’s a strict dress code.

Sutton

One of the most popular clubs in all of Barça. Don’t be surprised if you happen to bump into Lionel Messi because the soccer crowd loves this place. Best day to go: Thursday’s.

Nick Havana

If you’re more in the mood to head to a club filled with mostly locals and students, this is your go-to place. Nothing but Spanish music it is!

Shopping!

The best place to score some new dimes before you head back home is at Portal del Angel and Passeig de Gracia. And hello, the key word in the months of July and August is REBAJAS. Also known as an extreme amount of discount at practically every store. Plenty of hip stores to be found in Barri Gòtic, but if you’re in the mood for more of an alternative style, then head on over to Raval.

Sightseeing

Can’t miss out on Gaudí’s Park Güell, just be aware of pickpockets around the La Rambla area, then make a pitstop at Sagrada Família and then catch the light show at the Montjuïc fountain at Plaça d’Espanya.
