The metallic lip is back

Even though I wrote a post a while ago about how I used to be totally mesmerized by metallic eye shadows and shimmer on my cheeks and how much I hate it now, it looks like it’s time for me to welcome back the trend with my arms wide open. I don’t mind a little glitz on the cheek or a gloss on the lip, but this is THE trend of the summer. Just so you know.

The metallic lip is back. Kylie Jenner posted a pic on Instagram a while ago in which she had shade of metallic on her lips and the the trend has taken on a new life of its own since then. Pictures of metallic lips are popping up everywhere. Makeup brands rushed to expand their lines with high-gloss lipsticks.

You’re probably thinking: holy sh*t, this is pretty intense. I get it. As an advocate for natural beauty, I think it’s a bit much. But you can easily combine it as an eye-catcher. Go as bold as you want to, just make sure to keep the rest very basic. Only then the lips will look good and stand out.

Still think it’s too much? No worries. The metallic also comes in earth tones, so you’ll still stay somewhat in line with the nude look. Now it’s just nude with an edge.

So. Now you know: the metallic trend is back. It’s only a matter of time before the crimpers, the skinny line brows and the thick lip line return. Especially the last one. In metallic, please.
