things he needs to dump when you move in together
My boy and I recently moved in together and it wasn’t entirely smooth sailing since my talent in measuring things, or better said lack thereof, didn’t go quite as planned. But hey, we survived and our house is completely finished. And has been for a while now. I always make sure there’s a fresh bouquet of flowers every week, our Diptyque candles are lit every day, I make sure my shoes aren’t scattered all over the place and every evening I carefully line up all my clothes on a chair when I take them off. Okay, most of the time. Every time I come home I think; what a great place to live and we did it all together without too many interior struggles. There are just some things that really have to go when you move in together. Are you and your boy still arguing about what will and what won’t make the cut into your new home? Make him read this because everyone here at Amayzine seems to agree with all of the following points.
– A random collection of different types of glasses. Especially ones for beer (which he probably brought back from some bar). Got to go.
– Pennons, medals and any other trophy can be stored in a box somewhere rather than in full display.
– It’s time for some proper bed sheets. Anything he used when he was a teen can be trashed. Race car prints, red roses and anything with the Playboy bunny are very passé. And oh yeah, the only one who has ever slept under his blankets should be you. You know, just for the feeling.
– The dartboard. Okay, okay, you can leave up a nail in a wall somewhere so he can hang it up for when his friends come around.
– Collages filled with pictures of him and his buddies chugging down beers at their local bar and anything that has photos of a previous girlfriend.
– I asked a friend of mine and her immediate response was: “PLANTS, ALL OF HIS PLANTS.”
– Playstations need to be completely out of sight.
– Hideous souvenirs from back in the day. I’d opt for the trash rather than storage.
– Sigh, and then there are always those few items of clothing which are better suited for goodwill, but I think that needs a more subtle approach.
