Things I learned from disneyland paris
As I wrote yesterday, it’s over. The adventure which had us in anticipation for weeks and counting down the days… Luckily I took about 337 photos and learned a couple wise lessons along the way which I’m here to share with you.
1. This is the best tip you’re going to get
Sleep in the hotel. It comes with a dozen advantages. First of all, it’s big and luxurious. The rooms all have irons, slippers, shower gel in Mickey Mouse shaped bottles and the softest bed linen I’ve ever slept on. It’s also one of those hotels where even the wildest child is a sweetheart. I’m assuming you’re going with your kids by the way. You don’t have to though. Confession: I’ve been to Disneyland twice before I ever had any kids, soooo.
But anyways, back to the hotel. If you’re spending the night there, then from 8 AM until 10 AM, you’re able to head into the park before any of the other gates open. Advantage number 1.
More benefits of the hotel is that it has a pool. The kind you want once you’re rich and famous. So if the park is extremely busy, why not swim a couple laps with your kids? I did and would recommend it to everyone.
2. Lunch and dine in the restaurants
If people tell you that Disneyland only has friend food, don’t believe them. I definitely had great food. Think langoustines, crevette (shrimp) and the perfect piece of lamb rack. Go for the restaurant in the hotel, but the park also has plenty of non-fry options too.
”Bring out your inner kid.”
3. Lunch with the stars
Certain restaurants (like Auberge de Cendrillon) have live Disney figures walking around. In the restaurant by our hotel we had plenty of cartoon figures (Mickey, Minnie, Pinokkio, Pluto, Goofy) and at the Auberge de Cendrillon, you’ll find plenty of Disney princesses. Cinderella, Belle, Snow White. They dance, they talk to you, they take plenty of time to be photographed and sign special menu’s that are also, at the same time, coloring books.
Everyone gets a welcoming cocktail (free of alcohol) which puts you and your kids straight into the mood. And while you’re kids are all feeling excited and nervous to hit the park, you enjoy a nice (alcoholic) beverage alongside your lunch.
4. This is not at all crazy
Even forty year old women walk around with Minnie Mouse ears on. Not a crazy sight to see. Big guys with Goofy hats on wandering around Main Street. All completely and utterly normal. Bring out your inner kid. Absolutely no one who’s going to judge you for it.
5. It’s safe
They check your bags, you go through security gates and the entrance has a herd of security guards. I might sound and look intimidating, but at least you know all is well taken care of. You even have to wear a seatbelt on the ferris wheel.
6. It’s a workout
We walked a total of fourteen kilometers. Without even realizing it.
So if you’re going, you’re bound to have a good time.
