It’s no rocket science to know that top models make a ton of extra cash through the use of their Insta accounts. But the absurdity of how much it is was entirely new to me. You ready for it?

The three biggest Instagram mavens Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadid make tons with their accounts. Yes, really. Frank Spadafora, CEO of D’Marie Archive (an app which covers the ‘social power’ of models) told the CR Fashion Book that the biggest it-girls make roughly somewhere in between 110.000 and 237.000 for just one photo. Holy hell.

”It’ll take most people about 6,5 years to obtain this.”

Quick reality check: to obtain at least the average of the above mentioned amount, it’ll take most (if we base it on the Dutch population) people about 6,5 years to obtain this. SIXANDAHALF. And the bizarre thing about this is that those exact same models don’t even earn anything close to that (but still a lot) during their daily shoots and campaigns. To put it blatently, Instagram is pretty much their biggest client. Don’t ever underestimate the power of social media, guys.

Even the ‘B-models’ who don’t have a 20+ million following like Karlie Kloss (4,7 m), Behati Prinsloo (3,8 m) and Miranda Kerr (9,1 m) can earn somewhere between 21 and 44 thousand by posting just one photo according to Spadafora.

Oh the misery. I’m going to hide underneath the covers with two brownies to work on my model figure and I won’t be coming out for the rest of the day. Sigh.
