THIS IS WHAT YOUR HOLIDAY DESTINATION SAYS ABOUT YOU
Oh guys. I got my hands on a new fun topic. Now that I’ve finally figured out which bag, car and shoes (a whole lot) suit me, I’ve also figured out that your holiday destination also says a lot about who you are.
Take Ibiza as an example. In the month of May this place is the perfect destination for a quick getaway which won’t give you a lot of depth, music and culture, but it will give you a lot of sociability, infinity pools and great music. if you head that way in August (your main holiday so to speak), then suddenly it’s considered a little philistine to go to the party island. Unless you’ve got a house there. Or you’re staying with friends with a house. Then suddenly you’re back to being hip and successful. It’s complicated.
“Although the Italy crew is much more adventurous than the French”
A colleague of mine just had the holiday of her life in a cool five star resort in Turkey. Yes, Turkey. Doesn’t sound cool, so when people ask her where she went her answer is always: ‘Turkey, but in a really nice resort’. Only because for some reason when we think of Turkey, we think of barely-there hotels and British people slurring their words.
Anyways, you get what I’m trying to say. Check out this list to see if you can recognize yourself in any of the destinations.
France
People that go to France are always civilized, perhaps also a little boring. If you’re heading to France this year, you probably went last year too. People who go to France are faithful to their locations. Go to the Côte once, and you’re always going to go back.
Italy
Italy also has its fair share of faithful devotees. Although the Italy crew is much more adventurous than the French. They’ll head to Piëmont, then spend the following year in the Marche and why not give Puglia a try this year. People who go to France don’t mind bumping into people from their own country, but the Italy fans like to immerse themselves into the culture. You learn the language and drink your cappuccinos standing at the bar. And never after twelve o’clock.
“A bit of shopping, spending your nights in a five star hotel and oh, why not take a trip in a helicopter to check out all the skyscrapers.”
Thailand
Look, now we’re dealing with an adventurer. People who go to Thailand usually have a creative profession and dare to think big. Yes, the tickets might be more expensive, but life there is super cheap so you might even end up having the cheapest holiday out of all of these. And you’ll make everyone jealous with all your updates from beautiful beaches and photos of you slurping on a coconut.
Greece
You like culture and you are adventurous. Okay, you might not speak any Greek (and they don’t speak any English), but you’ll be fine. You like to go on trips, and hop from one island to another with a boat. And no, you’re not scared of heat either.
Dubai
I would dare to wager all of my shoes that you, a Dubai devotee, have a Rolex. Or you want one. You are definitely someone who loves labels. The word subtle was not make for you. ‘If you’ve got it, flaunt it’ is more your mantra. Or ‘Work hard, play hard’. A bit of shopping, spending your nights in a five star hotel and oh, why not take a trip in a helicopter to check out all the skyscrapers. Yes, those are the things you like.
United States
This is a destination you don’t go to every year. It’s got a heftier price tag and will cost you more energy. But you definitely do do it. Flying, renting a van, road tripping around the country. It’s a shame to stay in just one place. Now that you’re here, you might as do both the west and the east coast. Or you can drop by Coachella. Or visit that cool friend of yours in New York. All the while dropping one cool Insta post after another. Awesome!
