Happy & Healthy

this is why I’ve chosen to go organic

By now I think it’s pretty evident that I enjoy great food and that I like to stay fit. But the one thing I would appreciate even more is if we were all a little more on the same page when it comes to sticking up for our own Mother Earth. Sounds somewhat stagnant, I know. But hey, don’t we all want our kids and grandkids (hopefully) to still be able to be appreciative of all that’s green around us?

‘But Simone, why is biological food healthier?’ Well, I’m here to fill you in on the why and transform the month of September into the new #organictember.

So do yourself a favor and spend that extra dollar. Or euro.

Organic vegetables and fruits haven’t been processed with irradiation, industrial solvents or other synthetic food additives. That means you can simply eat the peel of all your apples and kiwis. ‘Yes, but don’t I wash my apples before I bite into them?’ Good question my friend, but even when you wash your fruit en veggies, the (let’s call them) pesticides stay put. And it just so happens that the peel of an organic apple is where you’ll find most of the vitamins and minerals you’re hoping to obtain.

And that’s not all. The flavor of an organic tomato tastes a lot better than those low-budget bad boys. Nothing synthetic, more flavor. We like that, don’t we?

Now let’s get back to Mother Earth, whom I find equally important. Organic is better for our environment, has less of an effect on global warming, provides clean drinking water and makes sure that CO2 emissions decrease. And all of this is evident in all the green that surrounds us. Think flowers. Think plants in general. And even the bees.
