Travel diary #4
a WEEK IN BANGKOK
As previously stated, I spent the past week in Bangkok. Besides my deadlines for Amayzine, I had a few other projects that needed completion so spending the week typing away in a wonderful little apartment in Bangkok was just what I needed. The plan was to stay three night, but turned into five. Bangkok was great and I’ll be honest with you, it felt good to feel as though I wasn’t traveling for a few days, hanging out in an apartment, Netflix included.
A good friend of mine moved to Bangkok about a year ago and decided to tag me along on a Monday night. We had dinner in Chinatown, drank Gin Tonics at a rooftop bar (Above Eleven to be exact, remember that name) and cocktails at a secret cocktail bar. Aka a speak easy. Horrendous on the outside, a brick wall with a broken down phone cell, but when you press the # button in the phone cell, a hidden door opens and suddenly you’ve set foot into a Cuban café filled with girls in traditional dresses and bathrooms with old school radios with Fidel Castro speeches beaming out of their speakers. The coolest thing ever. Google it: Havana Social.
Anyhow, I left Bangkok last Friday to fly to another island in the south. Koh Tao to be exact. A little island a few hours above the place I dread the most, Koh Samui: filled with tourists who do nothing but down alcohol like it’s good for you. My plan is to spend my final days of y trip in Koh Tao writing, hanging out at the beach and catching as many rays of sun light as I still can before I fly back home. I’ve been gone for nearly two months but I feels like it’s only been a day. Sri Lanka feels like an eternity ago.
So next week you’ll be able to check out my final travel diary after which I’ll have to get back into the swing of ‘normal’ life. I think it’s time to book another holiday…
