“There’s Messi, who’s been eating vegan for years,” is something I hear the commentator say during a soccer game. Pretty funny really, only because it comes across so unexpected. I’m not a vegan myself, but I’m not against it either. I just have a hard time refusing fish, eggs and cottage cheese. But it definitely won’t hurt to add a vegan eating pattern to your own diet. Even if it’s just for a little while. When I was on Ibiza for a yoga retreat, I spent a week without meat, fish and any other animal products like dairy, eggs and honey. It’s astounding what you can do with vegetables alone. I had the best vega curry’s with quinoa and the most colorful spring rolls. How I felt afterwards? Incredibly fit and my skin and mood were radiant. Obviously the area had something to do with it to, sun all week long, no phone, no computer, but still.

Here are a couple of celebs who haven’t touched any meat or fish in a long time. They’re extremely vegan. And very successful.

Usher

In 2012 his father passed away from a heart attack and from that moment on Usher decided to start leading a very healthy lifestyle. He has tried to get Justin Bieber to follow the same diet, but he has yet to succeed.

Ellen DeGeneres

“I do it because I love animals,” says Ellen. She’s been a vegan since 2008 and she’s also been keeping up a blog for a while called ‘Going vegan with Ellen’.

Ariana Grande

Ariana changed to a vegan diet in 2012 and her argument of doing so was: “I’m not kidding when I say I love animals more than I love people. I am convinced that plant based foods will make you live longer and happier.”

Miley Cyrus

She’s been a vegan since 2014. Her fish and her pig (her pets) are the reason she made the switch. “I realized that my pets are super intelligent,” is what Miley said to Jimmy Fallon on his show. Her pig also has a vegan diet. Just so you know.

Beyoncé, Jay Z and Jennifer Lopez tried the 22 day vegan diet and noticed a change right away. They felt better than ever even though they did go back to their ‘normal’ healthy diet afterwards. They do make sure they schedule in vegan days every now and then.
