Beauty

weird makeup trends we swore by in the nineties

Part 2: Hair

Yesterday I updated you about all the fun beauty trends we were all guilty of taking part in back in the nineties. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to scan all my photos for you guys, so you’ll just have to use your imagination (moehahaha).  From silver eyeshadows and blue mascara’s, it’s onto the hair trends we couldn’t live without. Want to make a bet that you’re going to recognize there?
1. Crimping

I still have my waffle iron! It made a comeback in the beauty scene last year, and ever since, I decided to take it out from where it was hiding and every now and then, you’ll spot a strand of crimped hair on my head.
2. Hair mascara

Perfect solution when you weren’t allowed to dye your hair yet, but you wanted to add a bold color anyway. From purple to blue streaks, I did it all. I decided to ignore the fact that it made my hair look extremely greasy.

3. Scrunchies

This is an addition from a colleague who definitely rocked this trend back in the day. If Kelly Kapowski wore them in Saved by the Bell, obviously everyone else had to too.
4. Braids and dreads

I was banned from having dreads (luckily I never wanted to have them anyway cause I knew what the consequences were), but I definitely went all out with braids. Preferably at least one hundred teeny tiny ones that I would fasten with the most miniature hairties you could fine. Justin Bieber started rocking this look again, so who knows, maybe it’s time for a comeback?
5. Zigzag hair part

Straight loose hair (or in a really low bun) and then with a zigzag hair part down the middle of your head. It was all about the detail, and a hell of a lot of work.
