WHAT DO YOU WEAR TO A  TENNIS TOURNAMENT?

Something that might just be a tad more fun than watching the game itself is staring at all the VIP’s sitting in their royal boxes and VIP rooms at Grand Slam tournaments. Prince and Beyoncé at Roland Garros, Kate and William at Wimbledon seated next to quasi royal David and Victoria Beckham. And I’ll never forget how extremely cool it was to see ‘fashion friend’ Daphne Deckers in the audience when her hubby Richard Krajicek was dominating Wimbledon’s courts.

And it just so happened that Daphne Deckers (aka former model and blonde Bond bombshell) invited me to a Ladies Day with a select couple of ‘women in media’ which involved a lunch, a tour of the VIP village and of course, watching some footage of the games themselves.

I’m very flattered and very honored, but what the heck does one wear to something like this? My tennis knowledge wouldn’t get me very far so I did a bit of digital research and found both great and far from great examples.

Beyoncé with a head full of luscious extensions and seven necklaces dangling around her neck didn’t seem so fitting. Neither did Prince’s hippie tunic and mirrored glasses look.

I would like to hand out several A+’s to Victoria Beckham, Kate Middleton and our very own Daphne Deckers for their presence at Wimbledon.

Besides Daphne’s look when her hubby was on the Wimbledon court (her look was very understated in jeans with a sweater and a cap on but hey, the two hadn’t been together for all that long and she didn’t want any attention taken away from her man), the women usually get suited up in elegant dresses in striking colors and prints. Preferably one that matches the court they are in.

Most of the women here at the Ladies Day opted for anything with sleeves. Very clap-and-wave-proof. Classy and crispy were the key words. I went for a vintage Vuitton jacket combined with my Rag and Bone jeans. Chanel necklace around my neck and I was VIP box ready. Plus, I tagged along my yellow Chanel which felt right at home between all the green.
