THIS IS WHAT YOUR PHOTOS SHOULD BE LIKE ON YOUR DATING PROFILE
Anyone who is an active user of Tinder knows how fierce the online judgment is. The first impression is your picture, so if it’s not up to standard then you’ll get an easy swipe to the left. So I asked some of the most severe Tinder users that I know: “which photos are successful and what kind of photos are a disaster?”
Rule number 1
“Don’t use group photos.” This was unanimous from everyone I questioned. “Especially not as your opening photo.” It’s not only irritating because you don’t directly know who you’re supposed to look at but it also makes it seem like you don’t want to show yourself alone because “you’re too ugly.” His words guys, not mine.
RULE NUMBER 2
“No photos with animals.” A woman with a cat automatically gets labeled as a ‘crazy lonely cat lady’ and that isn’t really attractive per se. Plus, having a pet can be messy. Something no one said but something I do suspect is that guys don’t like coming in second after your pet. My god men, what a bunch of ego trippers.
RULE NUMBER 3
“If you want to get a lot of swipes to the right you’ve got to show a bit of cleavage.” After my very evident glare he continued along with, “Well, I mean a bit of cleavage. When you’re using these kinds of apps the first thing you do is check out someone’s appearance anyway. If you don’t like it, then you might want to reconsider using it.” Noted.
RULE NUMBER 4
“No duck faces and that kind of bullshit.” Point made.
RULE NUMBER 5
“Make sure not all your photos are taken from the same angle. Then it’ll make it seem like you’ve got something to hide and that’s something we don’t like.” This one makes sense to me. If you’ve got seven of practically the same kind of photos then it reeks of a hazard. Swipe left it is.
RULE NUMBER 6
There are some mixed opinions when it comes to the amount of photos people have but generally speaking, it’s better to have a few good ones then eight medium ones.
RULE NUMBER 7
And what about an intro? Do you need one? “If you’ve got a great photo, you don’t need an intro. But if all you’ve got is a great personality them this platform might not be the best place for you.” Once again, not my words guys.
