These zodiac signs are the most common among serial killers

For true crime fans, there’s something endlessly fascinating about serial killers—though it still feels a bit strange to call it a fascination. Still, one of the reasons documentaries are so interesting is because we just can’t grasp how someone could do something so horrific. We’ll probably never fully understand, but that doesn’t stop us from looking for clues. Could someone’s zodiac sign, for instance, be an indicator? The Killer.Cloud database compiled a list based on 488 known serial killers. Who knows, it might come in handy one day.

Capricorn

Firmly in first place: Capricorn. Although this might not be something to be proud of on this particular list. A total of 55 serial killers share this zodiac sign, perhaps the most infamous being “The Freeway Killer.” Between May 1979 and June 1980, William Bonin murdered at least 21 people, though he was suspected of 36 murders. These killers typically followed a ritualistic method with their victims, often involving strangulation. A possible explanation for the high number: Capricorns’ need for control and goal-oriented behavior. But of course, many more factors are at play.

Leo

Just below the Capricorns, with a difference of nine, are the Leos—with a total of 46 murderers on the list. In terms of numbers, this sign takes second place, but in terms of brutality, they might very well come first. Rape and sexual torture were often part of their crimes. Dominance plays an important role here too; their charm allows Leos to win over their victims. With names like The Blood Countess, The Railroad Killer, and Monster Killer, you know caution is warranted.
 

Scorpio and Sagittarius

As a Sagittarius myself, I was hoping to be lower on the list, but we’ve landed in third place. Tied with Scorpio, but still. Both come in with 43 killers, including names like Ted Bundy, The Torso Killer, The ABC Killer, and The Vampire of Hannover. Sagittarius killers can be just as brutal as Leos. Rape and strangulation were common. Sometimes they even went a step further, performing sexual acts post-mortem or keeping body parts as “trophies.” Scorpios went just as far; before committing murder, their crimes were often preceded by periods of rape and stalking. Truly horrific.

Aquarius, Aries, and Libra

The difference is minimal, as Aquarius, Aries, and Libra each account for 42 murderers. Their crimes don’t differ much in intensity either. Torture, rape, and necrophilia were also found among Aquarian killers like the Green River Killer. They often targeted specific victims: homeless people, sex workers, or runaways. With Libras, you might not expect it, but these murderers were extremely violent as well. They too engaged in torture, strangulation, and collecting mementos. Perhaps they were a bit more meticulous, but just as brutal. The most unpredictable of the three is Aries. These killers didn’t really follow a set pattern. Often, it wasn’t about who was murdered or how, but how many. The more, the better. That lines up with Aries’ competitive nature and impulsive behavior—though of course, that’s no excuse.

Pisces and Gemini

Just a little lower on the list are Pisces and Gemini. Both tally up 40 known serial killers. What sets Gemini murderers apart is that they often knew their victims or had some kind of connection to them. Whether family members or neighbors, there was a link. It’s almost more the rule than the exception, but these murders were still brutal. Strangulation, binding of bodies, or even cannibalism occurred—like in the case of Jeffrey Dahmer. Pisces killers are equally ruthless. They often present themselves as charming, only to strike in the same brutal ways as Geminis. The difference: their victims are often selected based on age—either minors or the elderly. In the case of John Wayne Gacy, “The Killer Clown,” all of his victims were between the ages of 14 and 21.

Virgo

Virgos are known for being meticulous and perfectionistic, and that was definitely true for these 39 killers. Many of them committed robbery first, before moving on to murder. It was also common for them to work in the medical field, poisoning their victims during their job or surgically removing body parts. Crimes like those of the “Angel of Death” were carefully planned—and that’s what made them so cruel.

Cancer

Before the 34 serial killers with the Cancer zodiac sign committed murder, most were involved in gambling, theft, assault, or rape. In some cases, sex slaves were involved, and victims were murdered by strangling, shooting, or in one case, drowning. The trigger was often a form of blackmail or betrayal—though the exact “why” remains a mystery.

Taurus

At the very bottom of the list is Taurus, with “only” 22 killers. Still a lot, of course, but compared to the rest, the best score. What sets them apart from the other signs is that Taurus killers often stalked their victims first—on trails, in parks, or in the mountains—before resorting to strangulation, weapons, or cannibalism. The number may be lower, but the crimes were no less brutal.
Some zodiac signs appear more frequently than others, but that doesn’t mean you should sound the alarm when you meet someone with one of them. Many other factors are involved. In that sense, these kinds of killers remain highly unpredictable.
