Here’s where to buy that fabulous pantsuit worn by Queen Máxima Nothing Dutch is foreign to me, so I do enjoy a good rant. About the weather (either too cold or too hot—never just right), the traffic jams, and of course, the NATO summit. Why couldn’t I just drive from Haarlem to Zandvoort to let the dogs (I’m currently dog-sitting) run wild on the beach? What on earth does Zandvoort have to do with The Hague? There’s not even a direct route. And when I dropped off my partner at Schiphol and tried to drive home via Hoofddorp, every exit was blocked by army trucks as if war had broken out. From frustration to admiration And while we were all supposed to avoid The Hague, I was funneled straight onto the motorway toward it. I grumbled and growled. Why did this pet project (sorry, but I was really struggling in that moment) of Mark Rutte have to take place here? We weren’t prepared for this at all! And sure, Huis ter Duin is a fine hotel, but I couldn’t exactly picture Trump feeling thrilled there. The power of a royal image But as easily as I complain, I also change my mind. Because when I saw our amazing queen yesterday, glowing in her lime green pantsuit, standing beside Princess Amalia—who, as the English so beautifully say, is blossoming in every way—I felt just one thing: pride. Máxima’s Pantsuit Steals the Show And I had to revise my opinion of Mark Rutte. Because hosting the NATO summit in our little country might have been the most strategic move imaginable. The history of our Royal Family, the splendor of Huis ten Bosch, the charm of our queen and crown princess, and the unpolished authenticity of our king might just be the honey that brings everyone together. Queen Máxima in a 2006 Fashion Classic As I write this, there are four newspapers spread out in front of me, all featuring the NATO summit—and in three of them, our queen jumps right off the page. Amazing, too, that she wore a suit she had worn before—back in 2006. I know this, by the way, thanks to Josine Droogendijk of Modekoningin Máxima, who documents it all brilliantly. Where to Buy Máxima’s Pantsuit This suit is, of course, top-tier couture made especially for our queen. But within the ready-to-wear line of Natan—official supplier of much of the queen’s wardrobe—you’ll find something very similar. It’s stylish, elegant, distinctive, colorful, anything but standard, and glamorous. Just like our queen herself. Amalia: Timeless Class in Ralph Lauren And Amalia? Oh, I find her absolutely stunning and full of charm. She wore a long dress by Ralph Lauren—just as classy and timeless as she is. By May-Britt Mobach
