Ellemieke Herman-Vermolen used to be an incredible TV babe in my memory. I thought: that Jan Smit has it all figured out. She comes from Amsterdam but left her city years ago for her love, top chef Sergio Herman. They lived in Zeeland for a long time but have now moved to Knokke. Contrary to what you might think with such a cooking man, Ellemieke actually cooks for herself every evening. And how. Her own website about healthy food is just in the air and she has written a cookbook for the whole family. In addition, she also had time to share some of her favorite spots with us.
RESTAURANT AND HOTEL
In London, I really like to go to Zuma. First, I have a cocktail in the bar and then I go for the sushi. I prefer not to eat meat. We (Sergio and I) have stayed at the Oriental Mandarine, which is fantastic, but I don't quickly go there a second time because Sergio and I enjoy trying out a new hotel each time. Sometimes we do end up in a total flop, but usually not!
FAVORITE CITY
New York is alive and buzzing. Now that I think about it, I immediately feel like going there. But I also love Paris and London. Sergio and I go away for a weekend together once every two months and try out new hotels and restaurants. Amsterdam is still really my home. We always go to a restaurant we already know and also try something new. Toscanini on the Lindengracht is always a regular stop. The new location for next time is Gebr. Hartering because we haven't been there yet. We often stay at the Conservatorium Hotel because it's nicely centrally located. But The Dylan hotel on the Keizersgracht is also a favorite.

I prefer to rent a house with the family in Ibiza or Mykonos.
DEPARTMENT STORE WHERE YOU WOULD WANT TO LIVE
When I'm in London, I always do the round of Harrods, Harvey Nichols, and Liberty. And in Paris, I never skip Colette.
THE PERFECT LUNCH SPOT
I really like to go to Brasserie van Dam. The Cornelis Schuytstraat is really my neighborhood, everything is nice there, and after lunching at Van Dam, I always go shopping right away.
Restaurant Sla on the Ceintuurbaan has not been open for very long, but it is really for me. Tasty, healthy, and hip.
THE CLOTHING STORE WHERE YOU ALWAYS SUCCEED
In Knokke, I always go to Sketch. It's a very hip store with many different brands where they buy a little differently than the other stores. In Amsterdam, I find SPRMRKT very nice, and at the By Danie Vintagestore, I always succeed.
SHOE CRUSH
I usually buy shoes in Paris or London. I just bought new Chanel boots. They are still in the box because they are so beautiful that I can hardly dare to wear them. At Paul Warmer in Amsterdam, I always find something for the whole family.
LINGERIE
In Knokke, there is a nice lingerie store where I buy the brand Agent Provocateur. Those are very sexy sets. For basics, I go to Hunkemöller or Victoria’s Secret.
AND WITH THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS, WHAT DOES THE HERMAN-VERMOLEN FAMILY DO THEN?
Then we sit with the whole family with our asses in the sand.
