No talking, just threading
Karl (does he ever sit on the couch doing nothing with Choupette?) has something new on his hands. In addition to designing two couture collections, two prêt-à-porter lines, his collections for Fendi, his own label, and changing Choupette's litter box, there's yet another hobby project. He has directed a 30-minute film about one of the most prestigious collections of Chanel. I once had the immense pleasure of attending such a Métier d’Art show. And it was a celebration. On December 10, it will happen in Dallas, Texas. Because aside from the fact that this was the last place where our beloved Jackie ‘O saw her husband alive, Karl is holding his Métier d’Art show there this year. In 1997, Chanel bought eight Parisian ateliers (such as the house Lésage that makes those beautiful embroideries) where craftsmanship was pretty much invented. And in this show, the most beautiful creations will be showcased. Think of dresses with dizzying amounts of beads, rare stones, dyed peacock feathers, and intricate lace collars. Just before the show, all guests will first see the film.
How on earth does Karl end up in Dallas? Every Métier d’Art show takes place in a city where Mademoiselle Chanel had a connection. She was drawn to India by Boy Capel, Coco once had a lover in Russia, and thus the show was once held in Russia. She loved hunting in Scotland, so it was held there last year. After her comeback in 1954, only the American press was enthusiastic, so this is a kind of thank you. Now let's hope she didn't get enough of young cheese, clogs, and windmills... Maybe we Dutch can also take a closer look at the show.
Last year the show took place in Edinburgh and like this it looked like this.
