ECHTGENOTE VAN DE PRESIDENT HAAR

Of course, I also wanted to try a nice Christmas hairstyle, and Adriana Siket from The Building in Amsterdam had chosen a hairdo that can best be described as president’s wife hair. And since I once had a particularly pleasant tête-à-tête with Mark Rutte at the table at DWDD, I have nothing against that.

It starts off well. My hair doesn’t need to be washed. That saves a lot of time, and we can use that time particularly well these days. I’ll take you through the steps because this hairstyle is really quite suitable to try at home.

Spray a lot of saltwater spray on your dry hair. Blow-dry the strands inward and secure them with a pin or alternatively with a sticky roller (available at HEMA).

Keep the quiff separate. You don’t blow-dry it inward but roll it outward. Pull the quiff down over your forehead as much as possible and then wrap it around the brush towards your head.

Spray some medium-hold hairspray on the rollers and on the quiff.
If you have it, generously sprinkle with powder style powder because that gives your hair body.

Remove the bottom rollers, shape the hair with your hands, and tease it firmly towards the scalp. Did I already mention that the very best brush for teasing is the Mason Pearson? Available at better hair salons.

Tease the quiff firmly towards the scalp as well. Flip it back and gently brush the top out for a neat effect.

To give the quiff a bit more body, secure it at the back with rough bobby pins. Make sure to cross the pins over each other so they don’t slip out.

Just spray a small hole in the ozone layer with a strong hairspray and you’re done.

Mark, what are we eating?
