COCKTAILS AT TIFFANY’S

My first Thanksgiving ever. May-Britt and I made our way to P.C. Hooftstraat to celebrate it together with Tiffany&Co. Their facade was decorated with Christmas branches and lights. At the door, I immediately received a cup (in that incredibly beautiful blue color) filled with mulled wine. What a lovely start and how I suddenly felt like the holidays.

There weren't many acquaintances, but there were a lot of nice people. From high heels to ballerinas. A lovely warm Christmas atmosphere hung in the air. Too bad it wasn't snowing. A girl was playing on a piano, nice ladies were photographing everyone with Polaroid cameras, and charming boys were serving canapés. I quickly swapped my mulled wine for a glass of bubbles with a slice of peach. I let the cute Tiffany cupcakes pass me by, I'd rather have another glass.

I spotted Anna Drijver in giant pumps and a dress with a bit of bare belly. And yes, I saw a six-pack. Adorable, really. Kim Nieuwburg, store manager of Tiffany’s, wore a smashing black dress with a sequined belt. After she welcomed us all, every guest received a key with which we had a chance to win a gift. But then your key had to fit in the lock of a display case. Look, that made us greedy, of course. We immediately rushed (very ungracefully, we know. But Anna Drijver was with us and that made it feel a lot less inappropriate) to the display cases. Lucky strike. Anna won a pen, but a very nice one. And yes, that May-Britt always has luck. Her key opened the lock. Unfortunately, mine did not. Still, I am now typing this with my very first Tiffany bracelet on my wrist. Guess how that happened? May, I will pour you a glass of wine at five o'clock.
