Through colored glasses
Let me not beat around the bush, that winter, it's not really for me. I want sun, sea, and beach, and if the last two aren't nearby, then at least a park and terrace. With white wine at 12:00. And then in the setting evening sun with friends at the barbecue because as bourgeois as it may be, I love that in the summer. We talked about it in the editorial office and Jet and May-Britt, for example, are quite happy with winter. Think: fireplace, red wine, warm blankets, candles, that sort of thing. Look, that can certainly appeal to me too, but when you say winter, I mainly think of frozen hands on the bike, unmanageable weirdly sagging dull fluffy hair, life-threatening bike rides through frozen snow resulting in broken collarbones, and ruined shoes thanks to again that damn snow. Unfortunately for me, winter is once again banging on the door and since I don't feel like another two months of depression, it was time for action. We put our heads together looking for ways to make winter a bit more fun. Long story short, the solution is: color. Color! Color is what I need. And sun. 1+1=2 so I'm going to throw myself into the colored sunglasses this season. I think it's nonsense that you supposedly can't wear sunglasses in winter anyway, and besides, such a pair of glasses gives you instant va-va-voom.
- For the first look, we pulled a purple floppy hat from Patrizia Pepe out of May-Britt's closet. The glasses are from Ice-Watch Eyewear, and come from the new collection which consists of two models, suitable for both men and women. Quite handy for my anti-depression project because they come in a lot of different colors. The large gray scarf is also from Patrizia Pepe, also from May-Britt's closet, and the gray sweater is from Zara. From my own closet.
- Look number two. The coat is incredibly soft and has a leopard print, so I'm quickly happy. It's from Patrizia Pepe, and comes from colleague Marte's closet. Hmm, what's with all these Patrizia's from other people's closets? Anyway, the glasses are again from Ice-Watch, and this is the second model. No okay, gray isn't really officially a color, but still, it does quite well, doesn't it? By the way, they are for sale for €69.95, at the independent optician and of course in the Ice-Watch flagship store at Heiligeweg 9, Amsterdam.
- Then the last one, with a round frame and a checked coat. Mine is! And from Zara. You'd almost think we're afraid of variety here. Not so, you know. By the way, do you see that the legs have no hinges? Great for types like me, who sometimes want to sit on a pair of glasses. Or stand. So, let that winter come.
