Fresh Sex and the City finds
I don't know about you, but despite Borgen, The Bridge, Orange is the New Black, and all those other great new series, I still miss Sex and the City. Since I'm going to New York soon, the craving is only getting bigger. I can have an orgasmic pleasure if I pull out an episode from the dust that I've never seen, but that's not going to happen anymore. I've really watched them all. At least 15 times. Here speaks a junkie. But you already figured that out.
How wonderful that while browsing the internet I stumbled upon this American TV_Blog and found these nice facts. 10 Things you didn’t know about Sex and the City.
1. The addresses of Miranda, Carrie, Samantha, and Charlotte do not exist.
Carrie, 245 East 73rd St
Charlotte 700 Park Avenue
Samantha Gansevoort Street
Miranda 331 West 78th Street
All fake.
2. Cynthia Nixon, the earring fetishist, has no holes in her ears. All her earrings are old-fashioned clip-ons. Some designers even sent their studs to a jeweler to have them converted into clips. An appearance in Sex and the City was worth a lot to her, of course.
3. The tutu that Carrie wears in the opening (the one that gets splashed by a passing bus, that tutu) comes from a vintage store and cost only 5 dollars.
4. The last episode of SATC (An American Girl in Paris-Part Deux) was only finished four days before it aired. And I thought I was a deadline junkie.
The note on Carrie’s wedding dress in the movie is actually handwritten by Vivienne Westwood.
5. Do you remember the scene where Trey proposes to Charlotte? That was in front of a fake Tiffany’s window. Tiffany didn't want filming in front of the real store (probably for privacy reasons for the other customers), but they did send an employee and a fake window to shoot the scene.
6. There is quite a big continuity error in the opening. The bus that splashes Carrie is full of passengers as it passes, then the camera moves to Carrie and then back to the bus, which suddenly, poof, is completely empty.
7. Sarah Jessica Parker sometimes played Carrie for up to 18 hours a day. Always in Manolos or Jimmy Choos. Best job in the world.
8. Until episode 12 of season 4, you could see the credit with Sarah Jessica Parker's name on the Twin Towers. After 9/11, the creators placed her name on the Empire State Building.
9. The note on Carrie’s wedding dress in the movie is actually handwritten by Vivienne Westwood.
Well, rediscovering an old episode won't happen to me again. But if I occasionally find a gift like this, I can keep going. In the meantime, I'm just stubbornly and firmly waiting for film 3.
