6 times cared for lips in winter
Cracked, chapped, and dry lips. You don't want that. It hurts, it doesn't look nice, and thus no happy moment. You naturally want the summery soft lips as always. You need to put in a little effort now, because due to the dramatic weather, you are not guaranteed kissable lips.
Scrubbing
If your lips are extremely dry, you can also scrub them a bit. Just with a toothbrush, because using a scrub salt seems a bit too harsh and not very tasteful. It gives the same effect and you simply ‘brush’ away loose flakes and dry spots. It's definitely a handy tip to do more often, because lipstick will look much better on them. Don't go at it like a madman, but do it gently, you don't want a bleeding mess. After scrubbing, make sure to apply a balm well. It's basically the same ritual as you always do when scrubbing.
Goodbye coffee
Winter is of course the perfect time to warm up with a good cup of coffee or Glühwein. However, alcohol and caffeine are actually very dehydrating. Not handy. So go for the decaf version or herbal tea. Better.
Coconut oil
Jet once mentioned that coconut is totally awesome. Also for your lips. It has a moisturizing property, which means your lips are nourished so well that cracks disappear immediately. Well okay, not immediately, but quickly. And because of the softness of coconut, you won't feel it anymore. A nice bonus is of course that it smells good. Nice for yourself.
Use natural products
Use lip balm like Burt’s Bees and Kyoko. These are natural and extremely nourishing, without any ingredients that are addictive, making you want to eat the entire lip balm or keep applying it. A plus is that most natural lip balms smell really nice, because they are made from oils like shea butter, cocoa butter, or jojoba oil.
SPF
Even in winter, the sun shines, you know. So it's a good idea to choose a lip balm with SPF.
Go for healthy
This sounds so standard, but just make sure you get enough vitamins. Eat fruit and green vegetables because they are full of water and vitamins. Cracked and chapped lips start with dehydration, so you will at least prevent that this way.
