7 Reasons why you should go to New York NOW
Kate Middleton is going, a fellow journalist is going, a business acquaintance is going. Everyone is ‘doing’ New York these days. And more people should do that. Why? That's why.
The tree, of course the tree
While you're elbowing tourists away from you, you must of course take a look at the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. There's an ice rink in front of it, but then the this-is-really-too-touristy radar goes off too much. Let it go, let it wait for you to find better spots.
The shop windows
Now that you're in the midtown area, make sure to check out the shop windows. Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, one more beautiful than the other. There has been a year of meetings about this and not a dollar has been skimped.
The ice rink at The Standard
One of my favorites, The Standard Hotel, has an ice rink on the High Line that is open until 1:00 AM. You can cozy up with your partner while you warm up with hot cider, Belgian waffles, and of course that incredibly nice guy next to you.
Winter Village in Bryant Park
Here too is an ice rink that is even free. Furthermore, there are skating shows and the park is winter decorated. You can buy hot chocolate and other winter coziness and you will never want to leave. Unless it's to your apartment with a fireplace so big you can dance in it.
Chelsea Pears
Are the New York winters too harsh for you? Then the Chelsea Pears are a good option. They have an indoor rink and you might find it an extra fun idea that shows are often held here. Marc by Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, that kind of thing.
It's nice and close to Miami
And there it's wonderfully warm again...
