99 Fashion Intern Problems (but ELLE ain’t one)

When I started my internship at the editorial office of ELLE about five years ago, I was of course dying of nerves before my first day. This was partly because I was so excited but also because I was a little bit terrified. Because, we all know the The Devil Wears Prada stories and ‘the fashion world’ is always portrayed as harsh, mean, and bitchy. Fortunately, my fears turned out to be unfounded because I ended up in a warm bath and really had the time of my life there. But it doesn't always go that way. I have the impression that it's not too bad here in the Netherlands, but especially abroad, interns are downright squeezed, tortured, and beaten to death. They have to pick up and deliver 800 packages, drag 7400 clothing items for 12 different stylists all over the city, and secretly also be the PA of the Editor in Chief. Today I came across the Tumblr page “Fashion Intern Problems” where all kinds of situations are depicted through GIFs and I really laughed out loud multiple times. With sound and everything. Ideal for anyone experiencing such an internship and needing a little encouragement, and also ideal for those considering entering the fashion world. Don't do it! Just kidding, of course, but for those with ambitions abroad: you better watch out. As for the Tumblr page, it is very unsuitable to view during your internship because you just keep clicking ‘next page’. Well handy to get fired immediately, if desired.
