THE MOST BEAUTIFUL OF AIRBNB

One of my worst traits is my total lack of concentration. Honestly, I usually have the concentration ability of a popsicle, get distracted by the slightest thing, and can especially spend hours on totally unimportant things. The site of the British tabloid Daily Mail is one of those things, before I know it, I've been looking at photos for an hourn of ordinary women I've never heard of. Other attention grabbers are sites that satisfy my love for beautiful houses. If you ask me about my hobby, it's “setting the minimum on Funda.nl to 2 million and then looking at houses.” Hell, I’ll probably never have 2 million in my life, but hey, a person can dream. In that vein, Airbnb is another hobby. Trips abroad are not on the agenda for now, but again, a person can dream. And because I'm not the meanest, today I’m sharing the six most beautiful palaces I’ve come across during my Airbnb sessions. Absolutely unaffordable, but that’s not what it’s about. Did I mention that a person can dream?

1. Sleeping in a clock

Look, I really like this. No boring hotel room, but sleeping in a building where tourists take photos all day long. Complete with a library, sleeping places for three people, and the option to book the ‘master bedroom’ (where the owner currently resides), so you have the whole clock beautifully for yourself. https://www.airbnb.nl/rooms/501171

2. Loft in Soho New York

We are all madly in love with New York, and for my next visit, I would love to sleep here. Four people can sleep here, so if you split the costs, it’s quite doable. The second bedroom also has its own living room and en-suite bathroom. https://www.airbnb.nl/rooms/406031

3. King of the castle

You have to go to Golspie in Scotland for this, and you’ve probably never heard of it, but now that you know this castle can be found there, a round trip (or better yet, a one-way ticket) to Golspie suddenly becomes a lot more attractive. https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/322613?af=1148800&c=direct_link

4. Le roi du château

More castles, but now in La France. And what a castle, it doesn’t get more beautiful than this in life. I would love to wander around in a hoop skirt with a corset and shout something at my staff, only to then gallop sideways on my horse with flowing mane over my hectares of land. Chased by a passionately handsome prince. Bien sûr. https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/562857?af=1148800&c=direct_link

5. Pool with a view

Overlooking the sea, with an infinity pool, oceans of space, and a sleek interior. Here you throw parties with movie stars, dip your toe in the pool while sipping on some Dom Pérignon, and wait for the private chef who sets the lobster and caviar on the table for you. https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/483889?af=1148800&c=direct_link

6. Most beautiful of Paris

This apartment. I can't get over how beautiful I think this is, especially because of the glass roof made of exactly the same material as the Eiffel Tower. There are five bedrooms that accommodate 10 people, and for the quick mathematician, that’s €103 per person per night. And that suddenly becomes quite doable. So, who’s coming with me? https://www.airbnb.nl/rooms/2633963?guests=9&s=s7-m
