storytelling
Whether we could come and watch the editing of episode 4, director Josephine asked us. Of course, too busy with the daily grind, Liesbeth, our intern Mads, Josselin, and I headed to the television wing of our company. Lovingly referred to as ’the darkside’. Here, you hear chatter about the new perfume from Dolce&Gabbana and we have flushed cheeks from excitement over the arrival of Le Beige in cream form from CHANEL. At ’the darkside’, Real Men work, beer is consumed, and on Fridays, fish and chips are eaten. We watch in admiration while we dip carrots in hummus and pretend that we really enjoy our ginger tea. Anyway, the darkside then. There you find editor Arnaud with his wild lion mane and director Josephine. She is the perfect bridge between the east and west wings of our company. Beautiful and classy (so one of us, ha) but also übercool because when the extremely skilled yet somewhat rough hairstylist Taco Stuiver, without a mirror, cut into her long locks, she said: ”Fine, Taco, as long as you make sure I can still have a ponytail, I don't care at all.”
Alright, back to the editing. We watched episode four, dragging on the voice-over texts (keeping in mind the fine, slightly ironic voice of Jeroen Kijk In de Vegte) and saw each other's stories. The argument between Liesbeth and the London taxi driver, the adventures of Jet and Liesbeth in Somerset House, and Liesbeth saw my interviews with Pat McGrath, Joanna Coles (editor in chief Cosmo USA), and Franca Sozzani (editor in chief Vogue Italia) and we looked at each other with slight admiration and pride.
Arnaud miraculously cut a few scenes shorter, tighter, and therefore much more engaging and selected some nice, uplifting music. Together, we stacked the broadcast into an episode that I am quite proud of. The darkside and the amayzine headquarters, both of us are storytellers and together we form the ideal look. Amayzine TV, soon at 18:30 RTL5
