Tell me. Where can you really have a great night out? Cocktail, dancing, good music.

‘The Butcher is cozy and nice and within walking distance from my house. Very handy because the combination of Porn Star Martini (they have the best!) and Louboutins is a killer. But secretly I mainly go there to stare at the most beautiful bitch EVER: Chantalle Laurent.’

And a hangover? Where do you prefer to survive it? Do you have the perfect hangover breakfast?

‘I think you get thirsty from a hangover, is that right? (I never drink until I pass out) A nice hot Thai noodle soup seems good to me too. But that’s always a nice pick-me-up.’

How do you find women the sexiest?

‘When they are about to have an adventure.’

Where do you buy the prettiest lingerie? What should you pay attention to when buying something like that?

‘Agent Provocateur! Unless you want to look like a divine 70s Playboy model and are willing to spend the money for it. You shouldn’t think too practically when shopping: it’s about making your naughtiest lingerie dreams come true. So not: how does it look under a tight top? But: how does it look under Michael Fassbender.’

Where can you have a good lunch, coffee, and drinks in Amsterdam city center?

‘The terrace of the College Hotel, you can do all that there! Nice people, without it being a scene, and always a spot available. You have to get used to the clumsy service, but that has its own charm.’

What do you read, watch, and listen to in order to stay inspired?

‘I have been faithfully reading The New Yorker every week for 15 years, every letter. I have saved them all; I have a full cabinet. No TV for me, but in the evenings in bed my husband and I watch BBC documentaries about everything and anything, from Nureyev to the history of surgery. Oh and I am currently down in the dumps because I have to wait a year for the next season of Penny Dreadful! I listen to KCRW via streaming radio and a lot of Joni Mitchell. Jesus, I sound like an old person.’

You are a mother, running your business. Where oh where do you find time, peace, and inspiration?

‘Just from motherhood! ‘Me-time’ is so overrated. Doing fun things with my family makes me happy. So no yoga or pedicure.’

There must be a city that always delivers when it comes to relaxation and coming up with new ideas. Which one is that and where do you hang out?

‘Madrid is sexy! Enjoying a deliciously ordinary breakfast: churros with chocolate sauce at a chocolateria, followed by a visit to the Prado to see my favorite painting (Saturn devouring his son by Goya), standing lunch at Museo del Jamon (sangria!), afternoon delight (wink wink, nudge nudge), and in the evening strolling, dining (L’Hardy, since 1839!) and cheering and clapping at a flamenco performance.’

Is there a Beertje look?

‘A bit French, a bit Rock ’n Roll. Would that be called Roque et Rolle? Like: hotpants, striped top, red pumps, or: lbd, overknees, Gucci loafers. You have to be able to dance in it.‘

Which restaurant do you go to if you want to be sure of good food?

‘Zen Delicatessen. It’s more of a living room than a restaurant, in one of my favorite streets in Amsterdam: Franshalsstraat in the Pijp. Run by a sweet Japanese lady, who does almost everything by herself and calmly sends people away when the zen-like atmosphere is threatened by crowds. The food is so pure, delicious, and simple; home cooking the lady calls it herself. No dragon rolls or sake-bombs, just super zen.

What’s in your glass this summer?

Nothing is as nice as a Virgin Mojito! And if there is alcohol in it, then I’d like an ordinary non-organic Pina Colada in a ridiculous glass with a little umbrella and everything. Nice 70s style.

What is typically you?

Dancing in the street, flirting with old grandpas, cycling in a way too short skirt, swimming naked in the dark, ordering room service in lingerie and laughing until my eyeliner is completely smudged.
